One of the hybrids sounds like it would be the ideal upgrade for you Reinardina - they are extremely capable and have large screens on them, probably bigger than the one on your bridge in most cases.

One day some new piece of photographic technology will grab you and that will be that

My 'guide' is looking at four thirds for me, he thinks I should be able to cope with those. Not quite yet though.

One day I hope I'll get new retinas grown form my own stem cells. In Japan they managed to do that for mice; I asked my 'professor' at the eye hospital to put me on the list, if he wants to experiment with them. Fingers crossed!

Sorry I`ve filled the front page with images of Haworth 40`s weekend. So much fun I wanted to share it. Got hundreds of shots of so many people dressed up. If you can ever get over to Haworth for this  great weekend it is well worth the trip. Let me know if you are going and I might even put you up if you are travelling. It`s every May and up to half the crowd are in costumes with lots of displays too. All free bar a few donations to the charity chosen that year when you can. Great fun. Right - forgot I have to set theme for competition. Next job!

It was a good day out, by the look of it. Especially for a photographer! Last summer I photographed a re-enactment in Holland. Turned some of them into monochrome; it works particularly well on those kind of shots.

What made me feel good today is the fact I got to photograph an Edwardian hearse, complete with 'all the trimmings.'
I tagged along with a camera crew taking commercial shots for an advertisement. so didn't even have to feel that I intruded on a funeral!
Had already some shots reserved for the competition, now I have to see if one of today's haul is even better.
(Haven't seen them yet, hope they come out okay!)

A hearse eh! Should be plenty of black in frame to fit that element of the brief  :D. Glad you didn`t have to gatecrash a funeral. I saw a woman advertising funeral coverage as a photographer. Have always thought it is a gap in the market - one of those occasions where you get lots of people together not normally seen in the same space . My patter getting people to smile and act daft might not fit though  ;)

I've seen wonderfully spectacular funerals locally - horse drawn glass hearses leading a procession from church to cemetary and so on, and never dared take photos for fear of upsetting someone. I guess that's how most of us feel. But why not? - TV often broadcasts such things these days. (The procession is a dying historical tradition if you'll pardon the pun, and I think it should be recorded for posterity.)

I was once lucky enough to find an enormous horsebox/trailer in our road, from which two beautiful Friesian horses, and a hearse emerged.
They were 'made ready' for a funeral. The groom was vey obliging and proud of his horses. I took many photographs, mainly of the horses, as I somehow couldn't get the hearse properly in focus. Our road isn't that obliging, with traffic driving past etc.

Yesterday though I had a whale of a time, with plenty of space to move around and a glorious background. Took so many shots, it'll take me a month of Sundays to decide which one could be the best. So far I've only edited two, as I'm on holiday and haven't got that much 'laptop time.' I'll upload one, so you can see what I mean. I'll do the colour version, but I have also converted them, as possible entry.

THIS - made me laugh out loud.

Also feeling a bit chipper because the sun is finally out, the pool has the cover off and is in the course of preparation, and I had a nice croissant for breakfast. :)

One of my best friends has just realised a lifelong ambition and has competed in every solo race at this year's TT, except the Superbikes. He had a couple of did not finish results (his electric bike burnt out its motors in the Zero TT) and didn't do too well overall until today when he finished with a bronze replica trophy position in the Lightweight race. This is all despite crashing so badly in practice a few years back that he was lucky to survive.

Given that he is almost as old a fart as I am and he did it all with his own money and beg borrowing and scraping favours I am soooo pleased for him.

There will be a lot of    tonight in Ramsey  :)

Beaux Reflets

In an effort to get my lively five year old daughter into her bed, I suggested that she should try to get her head on her pillow before her shadow did.

Of course this failed; resulting in a series of races, where I had to say who had won each time.

Realising my mistake, I thought it was a cool idea to say, "Now see if you can fall to sleep before your shadow does."

Well, that worked; for half a minute! Before my daughter jumps out of her bed, and wandered around the bedroom with her eyes firmly closed declaring "I win, I'm sleep walking."

My daughters would do this.  I would have two of them doing it at the same time.

Funny, my wife and I were just telling my daughter and her Fiance how she used to do this, must be a 5 yr. old girl thing. Don't remember my son acting that way.

WMMFGT? Flying down to Florida tomorrow. Only there for 5 days so going to rent a convertible to get around. Should be fun.

A happy set of coincidences, for me anyway. I picked up a used MacPro for a reasonable price. It had been formatted and a fresh install of OSX Lion put on it. Got discounted version of Lightroom 4 because 5 has come out and.....Apparently it's the App Store's 5th anniversary. For any Mac people here, they're giving away a bunch of apps. I just downloaded a trio of apps from ACDSee.

I got a cracking deal on an old mac pro a year and a half ago but it has an old processor and I can't download anything. It has full photoshop CS5 but its a lot better than the pants netbook I had before...

Today was my 1st proper trip out with my new kit..whoop

that's such good news Chris, I've watched you story about losing your gear and the thought of losing mine makes my heart break.

My feel good is about driving to work with mist swirling around the hills with amazing images waiting to be shot. I have a rule that I don't take my camera to work (as I'd never get to work) but the images make me smile because at last I am starting to see them.

You have to remember, it's winter over here!
