How difficult does it have to be to buy a television?

Yesterday, for the third time in as many weeks the local emporium failed to meet its promise that 'it'll be here next Tuesday'. So I decided to try to get one online. Went to a site, in stock, check, right price, check, go through the checkout, add address - error 'this item is no longer available in your area'. WTF? Last resort Amazon; minimum delivery delay 3 weeks. Argh!

It's a good job the old TV still works.

We bought our flat screen from one of the Supermarches (collecting it off the shelf) when they were doing special offers like they often do. Never been a problem "touches wood frantically"  :)

E LeClerc was the shop we were hoping to buy from in the first instance . . .

After my last experience with CDiscount I won't be touching them again with a bargepole.

We have never had a problem with CDiscount ourselves and things have always been quite well wrapped Howard - though I guess there can always be a first time along the line.

I understand, as you can tell from my avatar, hairdresser appointments are important!  :legit:

WAMT? Discovering my Sigma 50-500 lens doesn't auto focus at 300 to 200 mm range.

Morning matey
I have the 50-500 and I've just had a play and can report no issues with AF at any focal length.
Ive stuck it on 3 cams as well and it was fine on all.

I've had the lens for about 3 yrs. Alf. This has just started.I've tested it on both my Nikons and same result. I've just noticed now it gives an 'r04' error message and won't let the shutter fire. Google hits say this is a Buffer Full message but that can't be as I get it even if I just turn the camera on and there can't possible be anything in the buffer.

Never had a problem with my Bigma. Try cleaning your contacts with lens cleaner fluid.  :o

Tried that OB, no help. I think a visit to the Sigma distributor is called for, get an estimate on repair.  :(

I have Bigma also and have non of these probs

I have noticed the base of the lens is loose, if I point the camera straight up the auto focus works but if I bring the camera down 90 degrees the focusing stops. Definitely time for a Professional to look at it.

What annoyed me today, and has annoyed me since Thursday, is the fact that we are without phone or internet, thanks to a fault at BT's exchange. Supposedly it will be back to normal on the 19th of October at 5 pm.
Lost all contact with my friends and relatives in Holland, as my mobile is a pay as you go, and used only for emergencies. Normal internet/email contacts suffer too.
Public internet computers are not available when I need/want them!  >:(

I'll be back when things are back to normal.

Have you tried taking your laptop/fondleslab to a cafe or shop with free wi-fi?

Does your 'phone have wi-fi? Here everyone who didn't opt out has their home router available to passers-by as a wi-fi hot spot. So I don't ever use 3G on my 'phone for data, I always get it from a handy hotspot, or not at all.

What annoyed me today is the same thing that annoys me every morning on the school run - all the damned cyclists with no lights wearing dark clothes expecting other road users to have the necessary clairvoyance to avoid them in the pitch black, even worse when it was peeing down yesterday.*
