Well, Clarkson is a prat  but I don't think he actually meant it.....literally....... ;) ::)

To be honest it's the type of remark he always makes. It was a joke and should be taken as such, whether in bad taste or not is beside the point. One good thing about it, it got coverage all over the media and more so than the strike itself.  8)

ABERS

Seems we're all likely to become guinea pigs and provide data for commercial purposes. Only the Tories could think this one up, perhaps with the suggestion of their mates in the wonderful world of free marketing and backscratching slime they excel in.

Next on the agenda? Soylent Green?

Well, if it is guaranteed 100% anonymous and there is an opt out for GPs if they're still worried, then anything that might conceivably be of use in the development of treatments which might just mean less need to do as many, often useless, animal experiments is ok by me.

The government wasting more money on the Olympic opening ceremony - if they've got money to burn then why not spend it on facilities for kids to get involved with sport in their communities  >:( >:( :knuppel2:

I hope those that made all those original, and as it now turns out, unrealistically optimistic estimates are going to get the sack. (If they already haven't done). >:(

Their estimates were correct and on budget. The increased cost is because the Prime Minister wants a bit more jazz added so he can take the plaudits, while us mugs, (taxpayers) foot the bill.  >:(

If the original overall estimate for the games was correct then I think we all misheard it at the time - has'nt it increased from something like 2.5bn to 9bn? And I can see the security costs spiralling ever upwards too. Still, it's been a nice little earner for Lord Coe and his mates no doubt  :knuppel2:

Markulous

In 2005 the public sector funding package totalled £3.4bn

In 2007 the revised budget total stood at £9.3bn

And recently:
........ and an extra £41m made available to organisers by the government to help fund the opening and closing ceremonies. This has been partly mitigated by a further reduction of £112m in the amount it has cost the Olympic Delivery Authority to build the venues

The National Audit Office has warned of a "real risk" that the government could exceed the £9.3bn public funding package for the Olympic Games due to rising costs, after it was announced that the security bill within venues had doubled to £553m
Whatever and ever. Amen

Might be a coincidence, but ever since installing the latest Mac OSX update, my Bridge and Photoshop are not playing nice.

Perhaps they are going far too fast and think they are being a little more responsible by lighting up the foggy spray they create, just in case there is someone travelling even faster.  :-\

WAMT, one of my cheapie flash guns died, bought from Hong Kong less than a year ago and they suggested i send it back for repair. After a bit of googling found a fix so its going to a mate in the engineering dept who will check the suspect capacitor and hopefully put a new one in for less than the postage will cost.

Thievin' bastages! Daughter just went out to discover her car's been gone through. GPS I just gave her for her birthday and iPod gone. This is the 2nd time in the past 2 months. Wife's car got done late Oct. Has to been kids, they didn't touch anything else, not even the power cords, just grabbed the shiny new techno toys. Daughter's heartbroken.

Even more annoying, I couldn't sleep last night so was up in the livingroom overlooking the drive, with the dog. Neither of us noticed anyone. He barked once, and I did look outside but didn't see anyone.  >:(

WAMT?
Been out with gear and dog to the river mouth. Cracking day with blue skies and flat seas.
But,
On way back to the car I heard dog coughing. Thought at first she been chewing the grass again as I could see green hanging out of her mouth. Then I noticed it was bloody fishing line and attached to it a great big lump of mackerel and a hook embedded in her mouth.
Some pr1ck has discarded this on a grass verge instead of taking it away with them.
I have manged to cut the hook at the eye end but the sharp bit is still firm in her mouth and wont budge.
She aint in pain and we have had a tug of war with her rope, she has even eaten her food but if it has not worked loose by the morning it will be a trip to the vet where she will need knocking out to remove it >:( :'(
