The fact that any programme analysing driving standards / deterioration seem to go first to taxi drivers as professionals for comments - another on BBC tonight. I find taxi drivers the worst offenders in coming out without looking / signalling, cutting me up and generally driving badly - professional - don`t make me laugh!

People who slag off the public sector and all of its staff just because it is the public sector. There are good and bad, just as there are in all walks of life - private or public

Those who slag off taxi drivers in general. As you say Jinky there are good and bad in all walks of life.
Btw I'm a taxi driver.

Guilty as charged Deetus - I actually had a taxi driver let me out   yesterday so just goes to show 

Since I had to give up my driving license because of my deteriorating eyesight, I have seen a lot of taxi drivers from the customer's point of view.
I have noticed a remarkable North-South divide. In this case North being South Yorkshire, where my daughter lives and South being Southampton.

Here in the South, most are friendly helpful and chatty, and often older, while 'up North' there are a lot of boy-racer's who, at times, scare the Hell out of me. They are not very talkative and often let me struggle with my suitcase. Maybe because it is easier to get a case into a cab style taxi, then the boot of a normal car?

Yes, I noticed a few on here were decorating.  I'm currently putting up Plaster Coving, 36 meters of the stuff, and it's doing my head in.

I'm only trying to get wall paper off the wall, and that's doing my head in!

It's in the hall, which is a relatively small area, but with very stubborn paper!

Most of the renovating is done for me though, as I'm not capable of fitting kitchens and flooring.

I did have Mick, but I deleted it some time ago. I found the place to be largely frequented by nasty stupid egotists, and frankly life is too short. Rather like 140 characters is an insufficient number to allow any cogent debate.
