Google (stolen) Image Search found 37 of mine

Well, I had a quick look, and it seems that nothing I've done is worth nicking.

Also, I searched for images that I know have been used on bloggs (the authors asked, that's how I know) and the picture search didn't show up any of them. So it doesn't look too reliable; possibly the ones that you have found so far are just the tip of the iceberg.

I'm going to start uploading my pictures in the creative commons. That'll teach 'em.

Images I have found of mine are uauall credted to me via my website. Since they are only 500x425 they are no good to any one and any otheres are 800x 600 medium res. Not much good for printing

That's why I can't find any, as I only load reduced images on Flickr etc. 

Mine you I've only done a search on a few and it returns images that aren't anything like mine?

Bob, this doesn't seem to work in IE8. so I used Firefox.  What I did. Open a window in firefox, and browsed to one of my pics in the gallery, clicked the thumb to open it to intermediate size.

Grab the side of that window to make it half width of your screen.

Open a new window in firefox, (not a new tab)  and go to google, click images.  Drag this window half width of your screen.  Then drag the image you opened into the image search on the other page.  Fingers crossed it'll work.

I always put Copyright on the border of my images and on the ones I think will be nicked i put a watermark on the image its self, some of the sites I have found have cut my border off and some have removed the copyright from on the image some have just removed the border and left the CR across the image,

All mime are fairly low res no good for printing a  decent size but still good enough for the website use,, most but not all have been nicked from flickr others are from my website

I read about this in one of the mags this week, not tried it myself.

I just had a go, you can just drag a photo from your PC into the Google Image box. I'm not sure if I'll be more annoyed at people ripping mine off or not finding any!

There is a similar site that has been around for quite a long while and may give better results http://www.tineye.com/

Colin, I've already got the tineye plugin on my browser, so you can right click a image and it will check it in the tineye database..  It has never found anything though, including my image that google found.  I guess it will eventually. 

Edit:  Actually tried it again, and it has found one image.  But not the same one as google.  So I'd recommend trying both methods.  I do like the tineye plugin though, it's a easier way to check by just right clicking the image.  Google need a plugin like this.

Me, too. Don't know whether to be relieved or heartbroken.  I'm especially hurt that I plugged in a piccy of a bright red Cardinal and asked it to search similar and it gave back a pic of a big rock.

I tried a few likely suspects and nothing came back so I am either crap or uploading images too small to bother with. Tried a few that I knew were being used on some blogs / sites and they did not come up either so odd!

Colin, I've already got the tineye plugin on my browser, so you can right click a image and it will check it in the tineye database..  It has never found anything though, including my image that google found.  I guess it will eventually.

I have been selling stock images through ALAMY for the past year and Tineye has never thrown up any used images, however after reading Dave's  post and using Google image search i found 3 unreported sales being used by on-line newspapers so thanks Dave

Hope your sending them a rather large bill

I did a search of one of my best images last night and Ive found it to being used on multiples sites on selling music, rhey didnt even bother removing my watermark, as an album cover, Clicky Linky to see my image

It cost me thousands to go to the location in Thailand, a long-tail boat to a remote beach,  a trek through a rain forest and  hike 450 meters up a steep mountain pass, to the cave entrance then 200 metre climb down into the heart of the cave, just for the shot, all that and some scrotes think they can use the image to make them cash, dont think so, large invoice heading their way

Ive got my letter sorted out now, with the help from a friend who has a degree in business law and a friend who is a business consultant, All I need do now is collate all the evidence of unauthorised use and send it out along with invoices and further use invoices

Me neither. I must be such a unique talent that no one else appreciates it.

That'll probably change when I'm dead. I'm like Van Gogh. I've been told that I have his ear for music.

Looking through the images that it finds as similar, I'm of the opinion that the algorithm is based on colour content in the image and not any recognition technique.

Yes I thought that, think it looks for similar shapes as well
