What annoyed you today?

I shovelled (snow) at 6:30, 8:00 and 10:30.  Between 8 and 10 there was about 5 cm alone.  I will have to shovel again at least once more, right now there another 5-7cm out there.

Lucky bugger!  All we get is rain!

I just shovelled again.  Hopefully this will be the last time today.  The pile beside the drive is about 6 foot tall now.  My neighbour cannot reach high enough now to pile it up even with a shovel, she piles it and I toss it up for her.

Bought a new CF card, 8 gigs. Plugged it into my D70s and everything looked fine, the camera registered it and showed the number of shots available. Off I went to the Botannical Gdns. Took about 200 shots. When I went to upload to my PC about 30 of them were corrupted. Odd thing, when I plugged the card reader into an empty USB port 2 of my external hard drives dropped offline and the computer yelling at me not to unplugged things without ejecting first. Then when i tried to format the card using the camera, it wouldn't. Now I'm left wondering, is it the card, the camera or the card reader?

Sounds like the card to me.
What make is it?
You could visit the manufacturers web site and check the validity of the card.
There are a lot of fakes around apparently

The D70s appears to suffer from card slots failing over time (mine is and there's a lot on the inter web about replacing them) could yours be exhibiting the start of this?

And I would love to know how many newer converts to digital would know what a D70s actually was!
That you can replace them or fix them is a testemant to their build and also a good sign that on old DSLR is still fit for use.

Some cameras have the option of low level format too.

i find it amazing that we still talk about low level formatting - i thought that disappeared with improved HD technology...

Bought a Refurbished computer from TigerDirect specifically with the intention of running all my photo edit software (and basically nothing else). My current machine, while quite good, is already maxed out with 4 gig memory. I found if I had Elements 12, Lightroom 5 and Perfect Effects 8 all running simultaneously that PE 8 would crash after editing.

The machine I bought, with the assistance of a store representative, whom I gave my wanted specs to, was supposed to be upgradable to 16 gigs and have ATI Radeon video. NEITHER  true. I went back on the web site and it confirmed the specs the rep had told me.  PE8 won't even load because the video is insufficient. 

This is actually the 2nd machine I bought from them, the first one had a dead motherboard. I'm afraid to take it back because I'll loose my temper with them and that's never a pretty sight.

As of right now, I can't be bothered uninstalling the software and what not and packing it all back up. Elements and Lightroom seemed to work fine, it was when I went to use PE 8 that I really got ticked.
It is upgradable to 8 gig and new video cards are cheap enough, it's just the principle of it. Plus the store isn't all that close to where I am. Not like at home in Canada where they're just down the street.

My two options are North Clearwater or Tampa. In order to post the review I had to give an email address, maybe someone will read it and respond from the company.
