I was not sure whether to put this in the general discussion or here. Those showing the error messages on screens of demonstration computers in shops always brings a smile to my face

My favourite one is the one I often get after installing an update. I just do a hard reboot - ie pull the plug. That always settles the matter.

I think the best one I've seen is when Bill Gates was introducing WindowsXP to the press, and he got the screen of death. I find a reboot sorts it out without problems regardless of message.

Blue screen of death on a petrol pump is a tad concerning!

Don't forget the BSODs companion the Blue Scream Of Death, usually along the line of "no no no no you complete fin twatin  really nice person!"

Followed by the Blue Prayer of Death "(inset deity here) please let it have saved, please!"

At the risk of jinxing myself, I haven't seen a BSOD is a very long time.    I have suffered the Linux equivalent however, the Black Screen of Panic, just a few weeks back.

I can see a BSOD anytime I want. I just call up the relevant screensaver.

Hmm... kernel panics (flashing keyboard lights). My last one involved an application deciding to corrupt my home partition.

Seen less and less. I have used XP for about 6 years and saw one BSOD. That's when my hard drive failed, so quite understandable.

Mine involved trying to install Ubuntu 9.04 on a P4 with a Dual Core CPU and a 500 meg HD. None of the so called Linux Guru's could give me an answer why and based on their actual answers left me with the feeling that they could come to grips with the idea that Ubuntu had a flaw, kept suggesting it was my machine. In the midst of the various head in the sand responses I got one get from a fellow who stated he'd had similar issues with a similar machine and went to another Linux distro that installed without issues. I took his advice and now have a nice machine running LinuxPC .
