acr or ps ??
« on: October 08, 2009, 03:01:30 PM »
Hewwo from cold sunny Sheffy.

Now then, editing,,,,can be minimal, can get quite all encompassing,,,,some people seem to think its a serious crime to like being into the PC side of things,i actualy dont, and quite enjoy the whole editing process(doesnt mean im, any good at it),so,just lately ive been churning out some pics which have only been editied in ACR,and,to my eye they do seem to look a little better,,,, maybe ive read too much Scott kelby stuff,i dunno,,,,CS3 can do everything but cut the grass outside,,,ACR if nothing else is less intensive,,,,,or am i kidding myself ??

My normal workflow is open cs3, open bridge, view files, open raw in acr, adjust, save as psd, open in cs3 to resize and any edit's, adjustments, layers etc that I want, sometimes just to resize :)

My work workflow is much easier, I shoot jpeg only, never going to need to print the images at any large sizes, mainly for web use, so I shoot medium size jpegs, open cs3 and run a resize batch on the lot, hey presto :)

i use Lightroom nowadays - just find it so much easier to process in general.

I can still export as a tif, psd or jpg and do some extra work in Photoshop if needed - but i am getting most of it done in Lightroom now.
Previously i used Bridge and then ACR.

I'm with Picsfor 95% of what I do to my photos I do in Lightroom. I just use PS for the more delicate editing. I find LR quick and easy to use and it does most of what i need to do. If you haven't tried it there is the free 30 day trial from Adobe.

I use Bridge and ACR, then either just save from ACR if I want a quick Jpeg, or go into CS4 to do anything else.

I personnally don't get on with LR - but that is just me!
