Willy Ronis

I don't know if anyone will even be faintly interested, but  . .

As you may know Willy Ronis died on 12th September, just past his 90th birthday.

Today at the local newsagents I spotted and bought a special edition of the french magazine 'Photo', a collectors special edition that has, if not 'all' the work as claimed of the said M. Ronis within, certainly reproduces his most significant images. There are not many full page images and most have copy on them in white script, but the works are clear to see.

If anyone is interested in getting a copy I'd be happy to acquire one and post it for cost. The cover price is €4.90.

Lastly, a quote from the man himself (my translation, so only roughly right I expect):
"The camera is a tool. A tool doesn't think. Behind the tool is my eye, and behind my eye is my mind. Every mind is unique. When the shutter is released it has made its choice. The act of photography is a mental process. There is no objectivity."
