Not sure if this is the right section.

My Nikon D7000 has an err flashing in the card window. I have cleaned the lens contacts and the camera contacts but this hasn't resolved the problem .

Any ideas please?

Is it with all lenses or just with that one?
Have you tried it with a different memory card in case that one is faulty?
I think it`s usually and F message for lens issues. an "Err" message usually means shutter button issue, settings wrong when shooting or a faulty start up. Try taking the battery and card out and putting it back in after 15 minutes or so with a different card.

All I can suggest - hope it resets OK

Yes. all lenses and all cards.

\had a look with the lenses removed the shutter is not  going home and the plastic bits at the back seam out of place.

I think your mirror mechanism is broken. Most likely a filial that holds the mirror on one side has broken. Not something simple I am afraid. If the mirror assembly needs changing, it will be quite hefty price. I believe Nikon in some cases does not repair units when they are too old.
I just found the item you most likely need on e-bay. I say MOST LIKELY, because I do not know if that is the problem, but here is the link to the item. All you need to do now is find somebody with the skill to fit it.

Yes. You are right , it is the mirror and shutter that has  broken.

I am going to get the Nikon D720o. I have read that it's an excellent camera

I feared it might be the shutter. Still - a good excuse for an upgrade. You`re worth it  . Any idea how many activations before the failure?

Check the warranty as it might be two years instead of one.

E mail a couple of the repair sites and get a quote for repair. If its viable you can then part ex or sell it on.
I had a lens repaired by 1staidrepairs.co.uk.
Fill in the quote request form on their web site and they will get back to you. At least it gives you a starting point

Yes. Thank you I did think along those lines. I have put it away for now. I'm going to get the d7200  I think next week.. I'll have a look at some others but I don't think I need one that does any more

I know yours is a Nikon Beryl, but Canon do fixed priced repairs - depending on the body it can be anything from £100-£180 unless its a pro body - in which case the shutter assembly is about £200-250.

Yes. I can get it fixed but it could happen again with in 6 months. I have ha the camera and considering when I am well. I go out for about four hours with it every day so it is well used.
