Street shots
« on: February 03, 2017, 04:36:46 PM »
Had some fun in the UAE and Oman on my cruise once I got my nerve up. Street photography and taking shots of people is frowned upon and with women illegal. At fiorsdt I played along with that as there were few shots to be had but then managed to make a few using the tilt screen on my new xt10. I`m liking it in stealth mode. These were taken with the twin kit lenses I bought with the XT10 having traded in my back up D7000. I`d wrestled with poor focus on that D7000 for years and it had been back for repair twice. Don`t buy one from Warehouse Exprtess if you see ity as I traded it in with an £80 bonus on the Fuji. The high iso stuff works like magic and beats my d700 I`m afraid much as I love that beast. I won`t be parting with it though as i`ll never have the lenses for the Fuji and one thing it does do is attract the dirt.  Got a nasty spot on the sensor the first time I changed lenses in what I thought were clean conditions. Already done my first sensor clean with eclipse when the rocket blower and arctic butterfly failed. My hands have just stopped shaking!!! ;)

Nice pictures, I lived in Muscat for a year but was too busy for photography. One of my main regrets!!

Nice shots Paul.
I had a worry some sticky spot that suddenly appeared out of the blue on my X-T1 sensor (even though I had not changed lenses and was using the inbuilt sensor cleaning set to activate when switching off) during use in the first few months, when the weather had suddenly got warmer.

In the end I had to use a soft lint to clean it away; and touching wood (in prayer) I have not had a problem since.

Now I tend to activate the self clean process every time I switch lenses and or turn the camera off.

As the X-T1 and all my lens attachments are weather sealed, I tend to think the 'stubborn spot' was down to manufacture lubricant excesses (while 'running in' so to speak) being released air-born within due to the higher temperatures.

Yes I have self clean activated on switch off. I guess without a mirror in the way the sensor gets anything in the air to it direct. I`ve always been so careful when changing lenses I thought I had a foolproof system!
