Lost icons
« on: July 07, 2009, 06:17:43 PM »
Built - in card reader. I've lost icons of the card drives so cannot see or operate the drives. Putting cards in shows the lights. How can I get back the icons. I've tried downloading driver but to no avail.

Not sure what you mean? I access mine by Right Click on the Start Button and start explorer. Move down the list until you see the card drive you want, then left click to display the drive contents in Windows Explorer.  ;D

If the cards are not autodetected in explorer then get 'autofix.exe' from Microsofts site, it does a repair on the auto insert function.

I had the same thing when I rebuilt my Dell workstation that has an in-built 15-in-1 card reader.

I had to install the specific dell driver (not the card readers driver) as well as the Intel chipset drivers to get the icons to diplay correctly.

If it's a dell PC you have, you have to use the dell drivers which you can download from their support site.
