Making an AV
« on: April 29, 2014, 10:32:45 AM »
I am interested to learn more about making an AV. So my question is...

What program do you use? 'ProShow' or 'Pictures to Exe' or any other program.

Was it difficult to get started?
How did you get your music? There seems to be lots of restrictions on what you can use, but I do understand that there are sites where you can get music for free use....

any information most welcome.

I use the free Live Movie Maker that came free  on my PC along with DVD maker. Good simple programme with transitions / music add etc. If you are going to post vids then you need to be careful re music. I know I was able to search for royalty free music which you could use  with a credit but lost the link.

I just love ProShow and use it a great deal for Avs. Its multiple layers work well, and adjusting slide and transition timings to fit music and so on. There's a huge choice of transitions but I like to use only a very few of them. One of the best thing is the huge choice of output formats it can produce - for Youtube, web, exe, DVD, Pal, NTSC Mpeg 4 etc. So I can put completed shows on memory sticks to show on a smart TV, or exe for the PC

I also do what I call "wallpaper" shows to run much longer than AVs, often over an hour and looping. For those I just throw all the pix into Powerpoint (which will immediately create a show using all pix in a folder). It can show each slide for a longish time, but the transitions (though fading is fine for my purpose) can't be made slow enough for AVs.
