Winter
« on: January 29, 2014, 12:16:17 PM »

We've had no snow locally (yet) this winter - just almost continuous cabin-fever inducing rain. I went out in the cold and wet today and found this. I know it's not a great shot but it raised my spirits.

We have a single, bedraggled looking, grape hyacinth in one of our tubs.

and we are in the middle of  a heat wave, suffering cabin fever as it's too hot to go out. I should take a picture of my bedraggled, water deprived tomato bushes!

If it's water you want Jen, there is plenty of it here too. The Dordogne river is close to the highest I have ever seen it (although still about 5 metres below the 1743 record - yikes, that must have been one hellish winter). Several of the smaller local rivers have burst their banks too. But although some parts of France do get flash floods we have been OK here because the council's maintenance of the ditches is pretty obsessive.

Yes generally wet here too though no flooding where we are thankfully. Always been impressed by management of drainage / forest floors in heat near properties in France.
