QOTD 22nd October - next big purchase
« on: October 22, 2013, 11:40:20 AM »
If you had $1000 (AUD) or UK 500 or US $1000 to spend on some new camera gear, what would it be....

lens? tripod? CS6?.....

I'm considering doing a framing course to do my own framing. £500 would pay for the course and some tools.
May the Force be with you.

Unfortunately you would have to multiply the £500 by at least 3, as I would want the 70-200 L f/2.8 IS lens. Nothing else I'm interested in until the 7Ds successor is available.

More camera gear would not be my priority, but if I were forced to spend so much hard earned on something photo related it would be some more powerful studio lights (or even just one) and a decent tripod.

A week away somewhere photogenic by myself with time to make full use of the gear I already have. (Holidays with SWMBO are fine except she won't wait more than a few seconds in one spot.)

I would like a 10-20 wide angle and a macro lens, think I might have to wait a while though. :'(

It's got to be a new Epson R3000 printer, since my old R2400 has finally given up the ghost after 6 years and a few thousand prints.

Deetus, I'm with you on both of those lenses, I have both and I love them, certainly worth saving up for (although I have a little way to go with the super wide as it doesn't stay on the camera for long)
Abers, I'm also with you on the new printer, but AUD$1000 wouldn't be enough for what I would like.

As for me, i'd spend it on some private Lightroom4 and PS5 lessons - I struggle with both and always feels stupid when joining in a class on them.

thanks for joining guys...

I would get a 10-20mm wide angle.  Not sure what else, maybe a fish eye.

In general I'm happy with my gear and software so not really sure to be honest.  :-\

What we would like and what we can afford are always miles apart, but the £500 goes a long way to what I need, but not what I want. ;)

I`ve reached a stage where I have been able to stop myself buying gear (well apart from the used 50mm 1.4 lens last week ;)) so it would have to be spent on a trip to any number of cities with my gear.

I think you do get to a stage where you realise theres only so much you actually use or need for the type of photography you do. Everyone breathes a sigh of relief when that happens
