This week's theme is a single thing: an umbrella.  Or parasol. A single one, not massed ranks of the things.

Everyone will own one, be able to borrow one, or find one somewhere. In rain or shine.

Absolutely no restrictions on Post Processing. I think this subject offers a lot of possibilities in all sorts of 'photo styles.' So, don't hold back.

Pictures to be taken between 00.01am Monday 5th August 2013 to 23:59 Sunday 11th August 2013.
Pictures to be posted in the entries thread no later than 23.59pm Monday 12th August 2013.
Poll will be up Tuesday 13th August 2013.
Winner to be announced Saturday 17th August 2013.

The Rules for the weekly competition are...

By entering you agree to take responsibility to
Post a topic on the Sunday following your declared win
Create an entries thread
Create a chat thread
Create a poll for that weeks comp and declare the winner on the Saturday
(if for any reason there is a problem and no subject is posted by the winner by Monday night admin will advise second place winner to post the topic asap, do the poll etc.)

In case of a tie, the first entry posted wins.

I'm hoping to see a great variety of interpretations! The minute I thought of it, the possibilities started to swirl round in my head.
I love shiny umbrellas in the rain, but there are so many other ways to photograph them.

We have been promised horrendous weather for tomorrow, so maybe I can get my shot early. If it is no tóó wet and windy that is.

For the time of year??? Just because we have been spoiled for a few weeks I think rain and therefore umbrellas are on the cards again this week!

For the time of year??? Just because we have been spoiled for a few weeks I think rain and therefore umbrellas are on the cards again this week!

Or parasol, it states. All areas and weather types covered.

Besides, you can photograph an umbrella in dry weather too. Or a parasol in the rain.

Very family friendly ideas OB! But this is not the time, nor the place to discuss them. It's umbrella first!

Our rabbit has it's own parosal now, it may seem a bit OTT but our parosal of 10 years got blown over and snapped, we bought a new one and were going to chuck the old one away but then it got hot so said old parosal is now in the middle of it's run:D

I am not sure if it will make an interesting shot though but a possibility.

OK I have a ridiculously busy weekend ahead with our annual club photo exhibition, and a club outing to Winton racetrack for the historic car races.
So here is my entry now so that I don't forget to load it (remember we are ahead of you all in time- it's Friday already)
