It's not a good joke when you have to explain it!

I was playing with shadow photography a couple of weeks ago and have a few ideas this week as a result.

Haven't seen the sun, since the competition was announced. Breaking my head, trying to work out good looking manmade shadow.
A selfie as 'a shadow of my former self' might not do the trick.

You can achieve some great abstract images on a wall, using shadows cast  from a lamp in the same way that you make animal shadows with your hands on a wall! Remember the bunny images using your fingers sticking up for ears?

I was hoping for something different; ideally something big, but for that I need sunlight. Not too keen on playing with lights, but it may have to come to that.
Not giving up hope yet though. Saw the sun for about two minutes yesterday, and at this moment, I can see it is 'out' against the hill in the distance. Oh no, it's gone in again.
Oh well, wait and see and fingers crossed.

I too had problems finding the shadow I wanted.
All week the sunshine we did get, was at a time I couldn't go out. So, when on Friday morning the sun kept popping out, I grabbed my camera and went off.
I had three places in mind, starting with the church. I hung around for 40 minutes, constantly watching the sky, as there were quite large areas of blue, but of course not where the sun happened to be hiding.

In the end I was lucky, and managed to take three shots, before the sun disappeared again.

I also hung around the second location, but the sun wasn't obliging, and when it started to rain, I decided to go home.

So here is the 'best of three' as my entry:

Shadow of the past.

No sunshine here for days, so I'm in with No Empty Shadows.

Well, I tried looking around for interesting shadows over the last couple of days of wall to wall sunshine, but nothing appealed, so I went for a studio composite shot.

Shadow of a Former Self:

Amazingly difficult to get a reasonably sharp shadow - I tried a really small snoot on the studio flash, bit it was still not very good, so in the end I thought to myself 'what gives a really harsh shadow?' and the answer was, of course, a flash gun. So I used the Metz. Stuck the two images together in Photoplus and added some layering in OnOne Perfect Photo Suite.
