Photography Equipment Insurance

Hii, it's been a while since I have been on here really.

I am new to all this kind of stuff. Anyone know of any good people/places/company's to insure equipment with? Also what kind of things should you look out for when choosing the right cover?

Check with your house insurance, as you should be able to add it on as extra, if it isn't already covered on general insurance.

As Odboy says if it is just for amateur gear extensions to your home insurance that cover you new for old and accidental damage away from home are the cheapest option usually. Check out excess levels and that you are happy with them. Of course as soon as you shoot for money this is no good and you need to look at people like Towergate etc.

I asked about adding my gear onto the house insurance and they wouldn't insure it away from home without the cost being stupid.

I now used aaduki http://www.aaduki.com/ who are competitive in my opinion and offer new for old and cover it away from home and in Europe ISTR.

Also insured in the car as long as it is not on show.

PI cover is available too.

Surprised at that anglefire - change insurers. My add on insuarnce with a number of insurers was always way cheaper than a separate poliucy whether with Aaduki or Towergate before the demarkation between paid / amateur came up. The excess figures were less too so I`d always say check out home insurance extensions first.

I also wanted PI cover as I do do the occasional pro shoot.

It also depends on the value of the kit, which I think in my case did restrict options on the house.
