With the speed of technology still increasing in the digital realm, it is already possible to take a still from a video and produce a beautiful print. Is that photography, or the end of it?
Let's face it, we used to have the arguments of, digital vs film, clean shot vs Photoshop and everybody has moved on, and producing Visual Art has never been more popular. Perhaps we
should forget about using old terms like photography, photograph etc. and call what people produce as a visual stimulant something else? Before long it will be hard to distinguish on the PC at least, between, pictures taken with Mobiles, videos, DSLR's, scanners and little video camera's that can be mounted on bikes, cars etc. And all of these will be manipulated either in camera or or on a pc. I remember how difficult it was to make panorama's and blend images seamlessly in Photoshop. I just seen a Fuji bridge camera that does the whole thing for you, even deciding when to make the next shots. No computer needed. It just raises the bar higher and we as "photographers" should be challenged by it. Use any editing program to its maximum I say, just to be different and stand out from the masses. The end result is what counts and what is talked about, the way to get there is "hopefully" your enjoyment of the hobby.
