Nice job Chris. If the amount of effort you put in to this is reflected in the voting you'll walk it.

I have got a few ideas, but as you can guess the middle of rural France is not overly endowed with heavy industry. All right, there isn't any, and there never was . . so I shall have to be a bit lateral.

Thanks Howard, I was getting a bit lazy and not going out so much with camera, concentrating more on indoor stuff. The industrial idea was exactly what  I needed to give me the push and for that reason, winning isn't my aim.  There's some good photographers here, and I'm expecting some stunning shots.

I'm hoping to go to a place called Seaton Carew over the weekend. There's industry next to the beach, but it depends where the sun sets, will have to work it out. I downloaded a very sad app for my phone calles sun surveyor and its a compsass and sun tracker!!!!!

Hinfrance, don't forget that agriculture is very much an industry!. I knew that, but it's still pouring with rain here so no chance of a photo yet. (Tomorrow's Duck Race likely to be cancelled because the water is too dangerous.)

I've thought of quite a few other activities that often have the word 'industry' tagged onto the end of them too . .

Is that not a  'profession'?

Chris, I hope the sun still sets in the west.

HAHA yes, I know, but I kind of meant where it sets in comparison the the industrial landscape. Not sure which way the beach faces the industry...lol

Well the sun was setting here too  ;) with the light falling onto the bale production, I hope the shot fits the bill, though I fear as it was shot on 11th it should not be entered.

Before Dew    -  Or should it be       :P      Before Due Time      :uglystupid2:

In the end I had so many 'Industry' shots, I could not make up my mind. I may upload the other ones later, but I decided to enter this one.

'Travel Industry.'

Have made a slight crop to this, so the pit wheel is showing a quarter of it and there is slightly less black at the bottom. A better composition i think.

This is the (original I believe) pit wheel from Wearmouth Colliery. It is outside of the main reception of Sunderland's Football Club, The Stadium Of Light, which is built on the old colliery site......I waited for the right time after sunset, to catch the fire in the sky. I tried different angles but was limited because of an annoying lamp post in front of the wheel. You can also see the skeleton of a crane, where the shipyards used to be.

It's a stark reminder of the industries that were the lifeblood of Sunderland, mining and ship building, now replaced with car building and call centres. I love how the steeple of the church in the distance is silhouetted between the spokes of the wheel. Hope you like it. It's my 1st attempt but not necessarily my final entry.

Dilema, can someone point me in right direction for the instructions for setting up new theme and the dates it needs doing by, in case the poll stays as it is. Aint 'did it'on here before. Have looked and not found.

I just copy and paste the text of the present competition, and change the dates. Just add a week to the dates.
And fill in your personal bit of course, like the subject etc.
Make a chat and an entry thread, by clicking 'new topic.'
