Be careful - Very careful!  In the bad old days before tripod screw specifications weren't always adhered to, one could tighten some screws sufficiently to force them right into the internal workings of the camera. Now they should all be too short for that to happen. But any old eyebolt is almost guarranteed to wreck your camera.

Good point Simon.  But I guess as the thing is hanging rather than actually holding the camera rigid, you only need to screw it in lightly until it stops.  Also a nyloc nut screwed on first could help with this, you would be able to set a required depth to the exposed thread.  :idea:

I would however be cautious of having both feet in the string, because if you lose balance somethings going to go flying, you or the camera. (or both).  ;)
