Anyone still using film?

I fancy a dip back into the film world so I've dusted off a couple of cameras and bought a couple of vintage film cameras for peanuts off ebay.


Does anyone round these parts still use film, if so what supplier do you use for your film and if you send it off where do you get it developed?


I can probably develop my own B&W (if I can be bothered to find my old gear & get some chemicals) but not colour. I'll probably be looking to just get the films developed & then scan them rather than getting prints.


Any recommendations?

In the Nikon Pro mag is an article about the last roll of Kodachrome film ever produced. Steve McCurry persuaded Kodak to let him have the last roll off the production line at Rochester, New York. I've ordered a few 35 & 120 films from 7dayshop &  discountfilms direct.

meanwhile my eBay purchases started to arrive today. Can't wait for the film to arrive so I can test out these babies.

I was just about to ask what cameras you have bought.  I am using a Canon EOS 1 mainly because I can use my EF L lenses with it...    You might be interested in the thread I started ' Back to film ! in the General photography section of the forums.

I've not whacked a roll of film through one of my cameras recently, but I'm sure you'll be able to find one of these 1-hour supasnaps type places in your local town. They generally handle C41 processes, which generally means colour films. But Kodak, Fuji and Ilford also make a b+w film that can be processed with the C41 chemicals. With Ilford, it's the (pretty good) XP2+... Fuji make something called Neopan... Kodak do something called T400 and BW400CN.

As for black and white films, I can heartily recommend the Ilford FP4 film.

It might also be worthwhile investing in a scanner that can handle negatives as well. The Epson 4490 gets my vote of approval.

Yep. Have a nice Hasselblad 501CM tucked away in my camera bag. Managed to get both 6x4.5 landscape and portrait backs for it. The portrait back is extremely rare!

7 dayshop sells film. Sometimes, you can find some out of date film there at a bargin price.

I do like Velvia but recently did some Provia and that was gorgeous

I've managed to get hold of some rolls of Kodak B&W 120 and Fuji Superia 120, plus a load of 35mm film.

Now to find the time to get out there with some lovely old cameras and have a play.

Jools, I got some from 7dayshop, they do have some good deals on all sorts of stuff, but their delivery time has always been bloody rubbish.
