Printing Postcards
« on: June 18, 2011, 06:58:28 PM »
I spent a few hours last evening (weather very wet again) making a couple of postcards in vintage style as in the current Amateur Photographer magazine - the article has several tips I found quite useful.

Antique Postcard

Now I need to find a commercial printer who can supply small quantities this size - 5.5 x 3.5 inches, rather than the more modern sizes.

That was time well spent Simon! What a fine job you have done there did it take long?

Thanks for those comments. Yes, it took several hours. I started fresh, by nipping outside in the rain to take all the photos - choosing ones a typical tourist might snap. The most time-consuming part is probably adding each caption. And I found that using Elements I couldn't find a way of copying layer styles from one to another, or styling more than one layer at a time. The styles go back to their defaults every time rather than remembering the previous setting, and even the stroke colour has to be changed from black to white every time. Never mind, it was a fun project for a wet evening.

Nice work Simon.  looks good.

Anyone who needs some free software for printing this sort of work, you can get hold of these free versions of PagePlus SE http://www.serif.com/desktop-publishing-software/?mc=FSSPAGEPLUS  I use the paid version and it's superb.

And,

http://www.daisytrail.com/free_stuff.html  Haven't tried this one myself, but might be handy for someone.
