Finally got round to attending a photographic club last night - the one at Horsham.

The event involved a guest speaker who is an Army Photographer by the name of Cpl Steve Blake.
The talk was not only interesting but entertaining as well - and well worth a look in if ever you see this guy, or one of his colleagues on the guest speakers list at any club or event.

And just for a tease he brought along a small sample of his kit including some lovely 500mm & 600 mm lenses that half the people couldn't even lift  :o

If any one want his contact details PM me and i'll send them to you.

Andrew can you pm me his details so I can pass it on to our guest booker, I reckon it would go down a treat with a lot of the members and having mates in HM Forces I'd be interested to see him...Loved the little feature AP did a while back on HM Forces Photographers.

Cheers

Keith, it is my plan to join up - next meet is in 2 weeks and is comp meet,so i'll get to see how comps work etc.
Apparently if i join up i'll get a mentor to help me understand how the club works and the various comp rules etc...

They have a secondary club which specialises in nature and run several field trips in the warmer weather to one of Ingrid's local spots at Warnham...
Love the natural side of things, bit of macro, flowers, wildlife etc - gotta be done...

Hi

Glad you found a photographic club and are enjoying. I have entered one of the butterflies that we took last year at Wilsey greenhouse in our next comp. My friend in Scotland had the same speaker at her club and she said that he was very good.

Gosh, the butterflies at Wisley. Seems so long ago... And a good trip as well.

Should be a winner then because it was a good day and the butterflies were fairly patient as i remember.

I got 2 trips to Wisley and 1 to Kew - a good year for Butterflies. Now busy working out a weekend trip for this year if i can fit it in...
Fancy another trip to Cornwall if i can get the rooms and different places to visit...

How are the knees Sandy? Had long walk treatment yet or is the trolley still useful?

I have appointment with the consultant on the 14Th Feb which might mean a knee replacement. I manage with my trolley and have been on several outing this year including the Shetlands which was great. I would be interested in another Cornwall trip.
