Anyone have any idea when this is likely to be released?

It was announced back in September and I'm in the market for a longer macro lens.
This one appeals thanks to the OS, although the non-OS version also tempts me.

Or does anyone have any other ideas or suggestions?

Graham

Depends. What make of camera are you going to bolt it on to?

This may be of interest. ;)

Ah, should have mentioned the lens mount.  Nikon fit...

I've considered the Nikon 105mm VR lens but the focal length is too short for me.  Shame though, cos for £500 it's a bargain.  I know a couple of people who might be interested though (not on the forum ATM) so I'll ask around

Just incase you didn't know, the Nikon 105 F2.8 Macro can be used with either the Nikon 1.4, 1.7 or x2 converters. I've used the 1.4 and 2x converters to great effect.  ;D

Yeah, thats true but you'll loose some aperture (not too much of an issue for macro work perhaps but I'm interested in it as a medium length fast tele as well) plus you're adding £300 for a new TC-14E to the Nikkor 105mm lens which isn't cheap (new anyway).

In effect (using new prices) you're looking at a 147mm f/4 macro for £910.99 (WEx today).  The Sigma will be cheaper and faster...

True, but you can use the Converter with other Nikon lenses you have like 70-200mm F2.8 VR.  ;D
