Hey band photographers....
« on: August 16, 2010, 10:20:53 PM »
....get yourself a D3S.  Seriously they are a lot of fun.  Especially with the new 50 / 1.4.

12,800 ISO.  And I added a bit of grain....  :D

Graham - stop thinking.

Just popped up a 10 second video that I shot at 3,200 with the 50/1.4 and handheld.  Mmmmmmmmmmmmm......

BTW what do you reckon to the 50?  I was almost put off by the size, cost and leisurely focusing but it's wicked sharp and very very nice.

So you want me to cancel me desire for a 1D Mk IV and deprive you of a second D3s?  ::)
Nice pic by the way...

      "Graham - stop thinking."
I'm going to have "rationalize" my camera bag first!

"BTW what do you reckon to the 50?"
Like you say, as sharp as a sharp thing with a relaxed attitude to focus speed.

I'll go and have a look for that clip.

Not posted anywhere yet.  It's possible I'll need clearance from the band cos it was a closed shoot of their new video.  But I might accidentally stick it on Vimeo later....

Ok. So who wants a D300 (with the oh so sexy battery grip.)
Very little use since I got the D700.
        No sensible offer refused!

PS  I'll post this in the correct place when Iv'e sorted out my toy cupboard!

Nice pic by the way...

If you want low noise, then the 1DsMkIV won't do it :( - All the rumours are pointing at wider dynamic range, rather than lower noise. And huge files. 30Mp is the talk of the town!

At the moment, it has to be said that Nikon is the king of noise. If you can afford it!

That said, the MkIII and MkIV Canon's are good. Just not quite as good.
