Direct Nikon/Canon Lens comparison
« on: June 29, 2010, 10:17:21 PM »
This site http://www.the-digital-picture.com/ now not only has Canon reviews, also has Nikon Gear reviews (Well the actual review is to follow, but you can do a side by side comparison of most lenses.)

The Nikon 14-24 f2.8 looks to be a stunning lens - makes the 16-35 canon look like a milk bottle :(

Interesting for lens geeks :)

It does confirm what I'd heard too - the Nikon 24-70 utterly crushes the Canon 24-70 at 24.  Closer at 70 but the Nikon is still an easy winner.  Plus the Canon tends to fall apart :D

Yes, it is an amazing lens - and certainly odd that Canon can't match it. It falls to Sigma with the 10-22 to fill that gap!

I compared the 70-200 f2.8 - the latest ones from them both - and the Canon is a clear winner.

But the reality is, it is purely academic - unless you intend to switch - or go to the trouble of mount converters.
