For anyone lucky enough to be within striking distance of The Imperial War Museum North in Manchester this is a must.

My alltime hero photographer. I'm going to have to get up to Manchester before 13th June.

How very true and at seventy-five he still looks fit and healthy.  Remember seeing his images in Life magazine in the sixties and seventies and wonderful photos they were, conveying the horror of war.

He's just had a few minutes on BBC1 news. (That tells you something of the stature of the man.)
I've just been looking at his book "Open Skies" from 1989 and even though it's predominately a landscape book it still has the heavy printing and brooding menace.
Occasionally the question is asked "Who's your favourite photographer?". I tend not to consider Don McCullin as he's so much more than that.

Quote from him gives an insight into his slant on photography.

"Photography for me is not looking, it's feeling. If you can't feel what you're looking at, then you're never going to get others to feel anything when they look at your pictures."

One of the few sites that I have looked at every image - and every image is stunning. Mostly horrific in one way or other too.

I shall book mark.

Thanks
