Oly 11-22mm

Don't think we got any other Oly users here yet so this is prob of limited concern at present.

Am wondering whats going to happen with this lens now that the 12-60mm is about to be released. There's obviously quite a bit of overlap. Have seen some significant reductions in the shops which sometimes implies stopping production. Or it may imply a permanent price drop?

It would be a shame if they stopped making it cos its a gorgeous lens, fast and sharp as you like. Not as wide as most rival makes equivalents but you can't have everything.

Yes will be interesting to see an outcome, this is one that im after and though i hope it drops a bit in price i dont want it gone completely// does that make sense..!! lol.

I did manage to grab a couple of shots with the 12-60 the other night and I can confirm there's nothing wrong with it. Direct comparisons difficult for so many reasons obv but its adding £600 to the E3 kit price so what do you reckon, £800 on its own? I've seen the 11-22 at under £500k and its a good price at that and if it drops any lower it'll be in bargain territory.

I see that Sigma has got the 10-20 in 4/3rd now..386 sobs..might be a good buy for me at a later date, was also looking at a 35mm Zuiko macro lns, any thoughts anybody on latter.

35mm macro is a very good lens. Very sharp and can work as a portrait lens too. Very little distortion.

Only 2 downers; its not that fast (f3.5) and its a bit short if you want to use it for insects. But its fine for plants and indoor macro, I use mine with off camera flash firing onto the top of one of those mega cheap Maplin light tents, good results.

If you're an insect man you're prob better off with the 105mm Siggy macro.

Re 11-22mm v Siggy 10-20, you're much better off with the Oly imho. Its a whole stop faster and its one of the sharpest lenses around, lovely lens. The Siggy won't be in the shops for a while and I reckon you can get the Oly for a little over £100 more if you shop around.

Cheers mate all noted, i suppose it makes sense to go the extra ton for the oly one when im ready, will have a wee look at the 105, cheers for the info.
