Don't forget I have just a mobile phone, no camera. Don't know the first thing about them.

Horses for courses Re - a decent smartphone costs more than a good camera and a decent 'phone, but does loads more besides. I have no use for the loads more besides and frankly having to recharge something every 24 or 48 hours bores me. My dual SIM 'phone cost £35, plays mp3s, takes a 16gb SD card (for the tunes), lasts 2 weeks on one 2 hour charge, and my non 3/4G contract costs me £3.50 a month for more hours of calls I'll ever use and unlimited texts. Meets my needs. More money left for music!

Hinfrance, I totally agree. I don't do mega tech for my mobile though I do like having the internet at hand when required.

Smartphone is a work tool with a camera so as said it is always with me. I use mine every day for the loads more besides", it's my sat nav, diary and contacts book and gets plugged in every night so TBH I could not be without it sad as it is.

I don't think that's sad Jeff. I'm sure that I would be toting a smartphone if I was still living and working in the UK. I was until I retired what is called an 'early adopter'.

Now I'm a next year, sometime, maybe never, adopter.

I agree with H. You're running a business Jeff, so you probably need one.

Mine is a pay-as-you-go, and costs me less that £20 a year, I think. If that. Only use it for emergencies, texting and to order a taxi every now and again. Use it more as a phone when I'm in Holland, and don't have a landline available.

I'm sure if I had a smart phone, I'd never be off the Internet.

I must admit I use mine all the time for diary / calendar / emails / facebook / checking on CC/ playing backgammon and suduko when bored /whatsapp/ skysports check in/ booking half price restaurants with my Hi Life and Tastecard apps/ booking hotels on tours /as a torch/ sunset times/ Iplayer/ phoning home free from abroad using  a Virgin app and loads more. But I never use it as a camera because it is rubbish! I`m quite the convert but my contract has just run out and so rather than pay out loads for the latest one I have a £5 per month deal that gives me enough talk time/ data  and unlimited texts with the ability to do all this. Why wouldn`t you?

That was an advert on behalf of Virgin Media Mobile  ;)

Why wouldn`t you?

Because the 'phones need charging nearly every day. Tiresome! And I have the tablet for that other stuff.

Mine does the torch thing, and it's submersible but doesn't float. My contract is with Virgin too . .
