CHAT THREAD

This week's theme is PHOTO LETTERS.

Entry thread is here: http://cameracraniums.com/forum/index.php?topic=3892.msg44449#msg44449

Been to more than a few wedding fairs ( or is it fayres?) for my eldest`s big day next year already! Her mum usually does the serious looking whilst I check out the photographers! Went to one more general craft fair, featuring weddings mainly of course , where one of the exhibitors had a nice idea. Did mounts for kids  names with each letter of the name being depicted by an individual photo. "Letters" were shown by such as paths, twisted branches, wheels etc to denote all kinds of letters from A to Z. They looked great framed up.

Your challenge this week is to depict a letter or series of letters or a name  from a shot/ shots of the things around you. To make it easier if you don`t see a shape you might want to shoot a subject that depicts a letter in itself. eg a bee for ...

Maybe  post them without telling us the letter - should be easy to see!

No restrictions on pp.

Pictures to be taken between 00.01am Monday 7th April 2014 to 23:59 Sunday 13th April 2014.
Pictures to be posted in the entries thread no later than 23.59pm Monday 14th April 2014.
Poll will be up Tuesday 15th April 2014.

Pictures to be posted in the entries thread no later than 23.59 Monday night

Reinardina

Interesting and new. You mean a forked branch for a Y, and a wheel for an O? A bee for a B and an eye for an I? Using brains and creative eye, as well as camera.

Don't know if I can do it, as I am quite busy with all sorts at the moment. However, I have quite long periods in between, when nothing is happening, and I can do with some distraction.

Will be interesting to see the results!

More guidance please Paul - not entirely sure what you're driving at . .

Sorry H - Reinardina has it bang on. The original idea I saw was using things around them to make a letter - a country road or path that for instance was an S bend making an S. As Reinardina spotted I have expanded it to allow images that might sound like a letter such as Reinardina`s examples.

Abers link demonstrates it very clearly - now why didn`t I go looking for that - thanks Alan  ;). The example for Jamie on the 2nd line in Aber`s link is just like the ones I saw. I`ve slightly amended the brief now to allow you to do a whole name if you are up for it / want to .

Is that any clearer or do you want me to think again?

It would be even cooler if the item depicted were related to the word. For example the word 'home' would be things associated with a home, spell 'city', or the name of your city, from things found in that city.

jinky

Cheers Willy - feel free but perhaps making it more complex than it need be.

Hinfrance

I was ambitiously planning to do a tableau spelling out my name. I've got the first two letters, the 'r' and ideas for the other letters, but this is a harder task than it first appeared . Yikes!

I have 2 choices - just can't decide which to go for.

I have 'C' from an overflow pipe

or 'P' from an old, mouldy, dumped sofa...

I think the 'P' will be the one.

Here you go then:

Namesake:

Rather a mixed bag, conceptually: some images representing letters, some facsimiles of letters and one letter copied from a sign. Sorry, it's been a busy week  :o

They are, if you haven't already worked it out:

H = crossing contrails
O = daisy
W = wine (could have been whisky, but the wine rack was nearer)
A = an A major chord
R= the R from an optician's sign
D = handle from a mug

Well went out walking today and found that they had been felling trees and putting 3 slash marks in the stumps with a chain saw, why, i have no idea. Then spotted this one and thought that's it "Hi". The knot in the middle of the tree made it. :)

"HI"
