After Reinardina telling me off for not going to enter this week I will be in with this NO vote chocolate Box picture taken at a nearby lake.
Canadian Geese

Telling you off? I merely suggested a bit of creative editing!
Well, that's two no votes entries then!
Good luck.

Creative writing Reinardina bit like the editing, don't actually think much of my entry but it adds numbers.

And boy do we need numbers!
Let's hope everyone is playing the waiting game, and will upload tomorrow.

Three totally different entries so far! Interesting.

I had a little bit of play on words with mine. Rather than Down My Way, I have gone with Down My Causeway, as I was away in Northumberland and over the weekend, this was 'Down My Way. The tidal times were perfect for the Holy Island crossing, the causeway was clear to drive across for both sunset (my images were pants) and sunrise (my images were much better). So I have entered with this one, which are the upturned boats used as sheds by the fisherman . The sunrise colours are a perfect backdrop for the boats. I used 2 images, one exposed for the sky and one for the sheds. Hope you like it.

I hope you will up load a few more shots of the island scenery Chris , it's one place I have never been to  :legit:

You are right Reinardina on low numbers, but hopefully Paul will enter one from Africa and OB often uploads at the last minute

You've caught the essence of Holy Island spot on Chris and with just a hint of Lindisfarne Castle in the background lower left horizon.

Thanks Abers. There's not much else there apart from the castle and priory! I passed over the chance of an amazing heron shot when I was driving over the causeway as I was going to miss the red sky. He was gone when I did the return journey. Glad I didn't stop though or I wouldn't have got that photo.  I know the boat sheds are a bit of a Holy Island cliche but they have to be done!

Still processing shots so grabbed one that made biggest impression on me. As we drove into the bush a young bull came crashing through the trees to try to see us off. Quite scarey! Ranger refused to back off saying he had to stand ground or it would challenge every truck on the game reserve. As he predicted it soon backed down but came within 4 yards of us!

Since the brief seems to be much wider than originally proposed, I was going to post a picture of a bramble that got in my way when out blackberrying last week, but decided to go with a PYO farm some couple of miles from home.

jinky

Not sure how much wider the original brief could be to break Alan. It was intended to be any shot, processed any way you like of anywhere you were and whatever was around you - so basically anything goes. Your bramble in the way would have been as valid as your tunnel shot if it is where you were. If it wasn`t clear then my fault for not being around to advise any queries but really was meant to be a catch all theme and thus all entries meet the theme as I envisaged as they were taken where people were.

In my very early stages of photography, on the old Photo Radar website, I took an image for the weekend comp 'Something You Can PickUp'. Some of you guys who used to be on PR may remember it. My friend dressed up as a 'lady of the night' and I took an image in the lane behind my house. There was a street lamp casting an eerie yellow glow. I parked my car in the lane. wound the window down and left the lights on. My friend leaned in window and it looked like she was about to be 'picked up'. I came second but people said I would have won if it had been more on theme. They didn't think a prostitute was something to be picked up.... The reason I'm saying this is because it's the voter who decides if am image is on theme not the one who sets the theme.

I'm also telling you because  the photo was taken down my way (this weeks theme), the back lane, however  a few people asked where it was taken as it looked very seedy!!!

Hmmm ... I have never ever taken a shot in/of a place where I wasn't physically present.

It does make for a very varied 'harvest,' but very difficult to judge.

Perhaps it should have read "Whatever Takes Your Fancy".  ;)

Confused from Surrey. :-\

I must live on a different planet. To me "Down My Way" just means something local to me where I am. It is a wide brief and I suppose on that basis it does make it difficult to compare - much like Alan`s best in show week when the field was equally wide and varied.
Ah well - the voters will decide as per DD post I guess.
I had not expected to win / set theme whilst away it was a last minute message to Reinardina who kindly put it up for me. Maybe we need to get very specific with themes -though they are always open to wide interpretation I find by title with a little  imagination. Only stating techniques / equipment to be used puts on limits eg macros, best wide angles etc.

Sorry if the wide brief caused confusion.

Er - yes well obviously you`d have to be there to take the shot!  ;) I meant it doesn`t mean your home town / area - just your location and whatever  you come across at any time during the week. Of course if anyone had raised a question prior to submissions I could have clarified on the points when I had access to wi fi on my travels rather than us debate meaning after the poll is up! I`d suggest if anyone is left unclear about any brief they enquire when set. Many times I`ve posted an entry way off beam from what the theme setter probably envisaged - sometimes those shots have even got votes and won - other times they have crashed an burned!

Oops just to confuse even more after reading the thread and rushing it in between trying to start making up an album of images from my SA trip  I`ve accidentally called the poll Down YOUR Way instead of my way! I`ll ask an admin to change it to save further confusion  :D
