Canon EF300 f/2.8 IS

I've hired a 300mm f2.8 this weekend to use at a photoshoot in Surrey (British Wildlife Centre) - and it was fantastic!

What a lens - you get what you pay for sometimes in life - and I think this is one of those times.

This is one of the several I took with the lens - this is wide open at f2.8 (Exif is intact!)

I thinks you're right about getting what you pay for when it comes to lenses.  I guess when you hire them at least you get to try them out properly in the too, a great idea if you intend plashing out on a really expensive lens. 

So when are you going to buy one?

When you hire a lens from Jacobs and then decide to buy one, they will knock off the price you paid for the hire.

Thanks for the comments! Whilst, the lens is on my wish list, I suspect the wife has other ideas!

Mind you, it could be bought, used for a year or whatever, and be sold for most of what was paid for it.
