I see Canon are offering a paid for mod for these two cameras, this is to place a lock on the Mode dial to prevent it accidently moving. Never had a problem with the mode dial accidently moving on my 7D.

The cost for the UK has not been announced as yet, but my guess it will be close on £100.

So what do users of this camera think about this mod.

Coming late to this but I've a 7D and relatively often the dial gets turned. OH has the 60D and I really like the lockability!
Whatever and ever. Amen

This would be a really useful feature. Amazing they had such a fitting to the older film cameras, but not the digital variants.

I would probably avail myself of the mod, subject to price...

If you will buy these cheaply made cameras . . .  :legit:

A spinning mode dial is a constant problem on my old fuji carry around - but not on the good ol' Pentaxes. The K5 has got a dial lock, but as I never had any bother with the dials on the K10D and K20D moving unexpectedly anyway I find having to press the lock button an extra thing to remember. And my head is already full of things to remember, some of which I have already forgotten.

I've noticed the dial has moved a few times when i've attached the 7D to a monopod and carry it over my shoulder when shooting cricket matches. >:(  Why couldn't they use the same system as on the 1D. ::)
BOOZE!!! Helping ugly people have sex.
