well the question is in the title ;) it comes on after boot up, i have looked in all the preference settings but cannot find anything to disable it.  :'( any ideas

picsfor

what do you want to use to download your pictures?

Also, it is in the settings because i used to use it before i started using Canon's DPP and unticked the box to stop it being the default downloader.

After a quick Google I found this,

Go to Bridge - Preferences - General and uncheck the box that says "When Camera Is Connected, Launch Adobe Photo Downloader.

Now whether this will completely stop it running on boot up I don't know, but it'll stop it trying to talk to your camera etc.  I'm sure it's a similar setting to the one in Elements organiser, and this removes the uploader from the taskbar.

i just transfer them straight from camera to a folder then view and edit them in capture NX. I occasionally use CS4 for other editing.
where are the settings located in bridge or CS4?

Trickee

Hi Mick i don't have that option in preferences general ???

Try the following
If you go
start > run  and type msconfig in the open box
then under the start up tab deselect the adobe bridge downloader

you will have to do a restart afterwards

YW
whilst you were in there did you have a looksy at what else is selected to run at start up?
you may be suprised at how many progs are scheduled to run at boot up and not really needed at that time.

For future reference try http://www.glaryutilities.com/ - free for private individuals. It includes a fabulous start up manager that allows you to select the start order and disable pesky useless things like the automatic Adobe loaders.
