What annoyed you today?

Not so much annoy as worry.

Just read that the teenager who stabbed Ann Maguire, his teacher, was a fan of a violent online game (slogan: Prepare to die), and that his online life forms part of the police enquiry.

I also recently read that (I think American) research claimed that teenagers do not differentiate between their online and real life anymore. For them it's all 'real.'

How frightening is that?

Extremely - but as pointed out in a discussion in another forum, people seem unwilling to accept they do anything wrong or bad nowadays. They can live their lives in a virtual world where everything is a bed of roses - and if real life gets too difficult, they just withdraw unti their virtual lives.

Thanks to the PC set, everything seems as though it must have a positive spin put on so peoples feelings are not hurt.  ???

Trying to get someone to fix my motorbike...
Its been stood for 3 years and is in need of a lot of TLC... I phoned one place and told them that amongst other things, the battery had had it and the brakes were seized on - they sent out 1 chap armed with nothing more than a hammer... So after I removed the callipers and freed everything up I pushed it onto the road (private road so lack of tax disk not a problem) - the same chap came out and went away again when he noticed the steering lock was on - didn't think to ring the doorbell to see if I had the key. Tried again last night - for some reason total no-show...

So. I phoned today to query it and got the response - we don't want to do it, its a big job and probably cost more than its worth...

I know its going to cost a lot and I'm willing to pay (I won't bore you with the reasons why) and yet they appear not to want the work - I'm glad they can be so choosy in the current economic climate...

I am sure there are others will to take your money.  I always find it odd when you get results like that.  Are they too busy to bother?  Really?

Who knows, but I'm tempted to have a 'pretty woman' moment and ride up them and show them the receipt when its finished...

My ASUS dual fan 2gb 7770 graphics card has bought the farm, less than a month out of warranty. Luckily I had thought it was getting a bit twitchy and so bought a cheapo card as an emergency spare - which is what I am using now. There is a huge difference in quality, and the calibration is not as precise. But hey, it works.

New all singing all dancing card is ordered and on it's way. I hope.

I would have though thought there are people out there who specialise in this sort of thing. My mate deals with Triumph Heralds and seems to interact with a whole raft of people on Facebook who deal solely with vehicle restoration.

All work on the principle that the cost and end value are not the same thing.

Maybe the truth is - these people realised that they weren't up to the task of actual resoration - just swapping out parts!

True restoration can often involve custome made replacements because genuine items are no longer available - but who doesn't look at a loveling restored vehicle and say 'gorgeous - takes me back a bit. Must've cost a pretty penny but worth it...'

I asked around and linked your post for others on some other sites but Im sorry to report back that most thought the price was too high even with the extras.
Maybe ebay might get a bidding war going?
Good luck

I had a play with one of those Samsungs in their store in Stratford the last time I was in the UK (daughter had to go to the Dr Who shop . . . ). It was very nice, but alas I am not in the market for a new camera at the moment.

It looks like we will be having an election in Ontario.  Given the size of the country we have multiple layers.  The Premier was going to the Lt. Governor asking him to dissolve the provincial legislature after her minority government was told that they did not have support for the budget.  At least she is saving time and not bothering with the confidence vote, etc.

Elections are a pain.

Thanks for that, however cant agree with them re price being too  high given the 50-200mm lens alone retails at £200 and the kit lens is the better one of the two available and only 2 months old. Still each to their own i suppose and i am open to a sensible offer. Thanks for linking it though i appreciate it.

WAMT? A wedding couple who are just impossible to pin down. They made a full day booking that includes a free pre-shoot and cancelled  that arranged preshoot on the morning of the set time a week or 2 back due to "small injuries from a car accident". Since then I`ve sent 5 texts and 6 emails and left numerous answerphone messages trying to set another shoot prior to the wedding day on 24th May. No replies until today when they claim to have replied to every one saying I must have a problem with my accounts / phone or using the wrong number ! Nothing in my spam folders and as I`m using the number given on the contract which they have replied once to  no fault at my end. Had the same thing when I was chasing them to meet and book so clearly their issues. It`s a couple I highlighted on the meeting day with my wife as being a potential problem couple - soemthign just not quite right. They paid my deposit (short £10 and at the 11th hour having asked me to wait until pay day- 13th hour really) and the rest of my monies are due 6 days before their pre-shoot and 10 days prior to wedding - watch this space. I just know they`ll want a full group shot having selected a venue with a flat green space n front and no access to upper story windows too! Why did I book them???? Helps make my mind up to give up next year.

Jinky, that sounds like a whole world of grief that you just don't need.
May the Force be with you.

Yeah tell me about it jediboy. Though I`ll miss the income that pays for some very nice holiday trips  :(
Anyway - partly resolved - they`d put the wrong telephone number on the contract!!!!!! Got the right one now and amazingly their hotmail account is suddenly receiving and sending emails. They said a previously photographer had let them down when they booked me - I`m beginning to wonder if he got out when he was still sane. :-\
