it has got some crash damage on its beak, looks like it should be an inch longer

It looks like a distressed cormorant to me

Yes, it's a Cormorant which comes in land for winter. I'm waiting for ours to appear sometime this month usually about five. Great shot. Very Happy

We get a lot around here - they tend to be a bit shy - probably because anglers hate them and I believe there's a quota for shooting them each year
