Simon, check the legs. White/yellow stripe is Sympetrum striolatum - common darter, albeit an elderly one!

I disagree, I think it's a Ruddy Darter as they rest with wings depressed as the photo shows. Cracking shot and detail.

OB, the other distinguishing features for sanguineum are red face on males and no yellow on thorax - this is definitely a striolatum. But yeah, crackin' shot!
