American wigeon and Red-crested Pochard

The Wigeon is left . The Red-crested Pochard in front is a rarity in the UK apart from collections . I guess this one has escaped. Good for him. These I captured on the Ex estuary

If the Red Pochard is a rarity i've done well with all my shots of them then! Must pop back to Hyde Park and see if they're still up there!

Yes do. They will have escaped from some ones collection or will have been purposely collected there Like the Black Swans at Dawlish . These ducks are not indigenous to the UK and have a longer dark red beak. But don't get him mixed up with the Common Pochard (Aythya ferina) He has a red head and a slate coloured beak with a black tip but is not a Red -crested Pochard. It's a different duck and the rear of his body is white. There are actually 5 Red-crested Pochards in Hyde Park including 3 males . So yes you may well have a Red-crested pochard . well done
