Nice, Looks like an old Sedco 700 series rig. Build in the 1970's. I worked on most of these, did not know there were any left in the North Sea, most would have gone to warmer waters now.

Cheers. Invergordon (on the Cromarty Firth) is a port town. Lots of off-shore industry and a place where rigs of all shapes and sizes come in for servicing/repairs. Nigg, is just down the coast and is where they build and decomission them too. Welding is the main skill set here too. Some big cruise liners have docked at Invergordon, but it's more geared toward the oil industry.

Good old times for me, I have spend some time there, mostly on the rig though. But I still remember the helicopter flights from Aberdeen to there, was a nice change with scenery rather then the long flights over sea.
