Well not a lot of inspiration this week. Went out yesterday and found nothing, went out today with limited success but in with this shot in the end. Was looking for something better.

Jeff, I was looking for a colour scheme for my bedroom and your image has inspired me to go for a fresh lemon colour.

What could be more natural than the Ruff of the Great Crested Grebe? Here they are both displaying.  ;D

Not having much time to go out with the camera, I settled for this one. Then a dispute developed among some photographer friends about the 'natural ness' of my frame. Linguistically, there is a difference between a 'natural frame' and 'framed naturally.' At least I think there is. I went out to find a more natural frame all the same, but lack of time meant I did not really succeed and came home with some really naff shots, one of which I will upload later.

In the end, I decided to go back to my original idea.

Coming and going

This is the naff one, but with a really natural frame!

I'm stuck

You have a point Reinardina, between framed naturally and natural frame. I'm not sure which of these mine falls into. Regardless, I  still feel either would fit the brief as the brief says 'framed by something else'. So fingers crossed, we all fit the brief.

I'm hoping for the 'any interpretation' bit to get my entry through ;)

I've noticed in the past, that images that in no way stuck to the brief (or at least I could not see it), did very well, even won on occasion.
Often people seem to vote for the image they like best, regardless of the brief (as I interpret it).

That's photography for you.

I have seen that too because people tend to vote for the image they like best, without considering the brief.  There's nothing anyone can do about that, but we could entitle to poll 'Vote for the image you like best in relation to the brief' as a little reminder.

Or maybe the person who sets the theme could decide if a photo fits the brief?
Problem is, themes are open to interpretation, so what fits for one person may it fit for someone else.

Too complicated. Few enough people vote as it is. If they have to ponder whether an image fits the bill, even fewer people will take the trouble.

Too time consuming to have to police the entries. And, as you say, the brief can normally be interpreted any way you want, so it is almost impossible to go wrong.

Maybe, if someone is going a long way from the 'brief at first sight,' he or she could explain how he/she 'got there.'
On a pure voluntary basis of course.

Or if someone does not 'see' the brief in a shot, he/she could simply ask?

Maybe as you say, a few words accompanying the image would explain the link to the brief.

As i've got used to adding my thinking behind the picture - and most forums encourage such behaviour - why not?

Reading the story behind the picture might even make the picture more interesting?
1 body, 1 lens, 1 flash gun, 1 tripod, 1 cable release & 1 filter. Keeping it simple!
(I lied, just got a second lens!)
