Free software for green screen stuff
« on: January 26, 2014, 12:48:43 PM »
Anyone interested in this can get free lit package until 4th Feb. All you need is a green backdrop that you can pick up from £12-20 on Amazon or Ebay. Thought I`d give it a try as it might be a useful add to my wedding stuff for my photobooth set up

saves you owning something with Layers to get some green screening compositions.

1 body, 1 lens, 1 flash gun, 1 tripod, 1 cable release & 1 filter. Keeping it simple!
(I lied, just got a second lens!)

Explain? I have chroma keying on my video editor, but don't see how it can work in a photo editor, other than with a cut out tool of some sort. I've had a trawl around the Adobe help files and there are any number of articles about chroma keying with Premier and After Effects, but not with Photoshop itself. Of course, I could be missing the blindingly obvious - it wouldn't be the first time, and it won't be the last.

I use the gimp, allows you to pick by color. So you just click on the green background, and it all becomes selected. Then you can edit your selection, say for instance if the subject had a green tie, un-select the tie. You can then make a mask from the selection, replace it with a color or just erase it to let another layer show through.

Works just a s well with any other color, of course, you can use blue if the subject has a lot of green.
