Weekly Comp Theme
« on: March 16, 2013, 02:57:11 PM »
Being lucky enough to with this weeks comp I was thinking of picking a theme of Low Light for next week.

I am worried that it may exclude some people from entering if they do not have tripods etc, what do you think?

Thanks.

Most folk can wedge a camera steady & still somehow, even if they use a stack of books etc.  Nice idea Mike

Low light is not my strong point, being partially sighted, but ... I have a tripod and hate using it. I often use something else to rest the camera on when necessary, so lack of a tripod should not exclude too many people. I suppose it would depend on the subject/place where you want to take the photograph. I, for instance, would not easily venture outside in the dark; dusk maybe, dark no.

(Hit the 'post' button too early.)
What I meant to say was, that outdoors, you're more likely to have to use a tripod than around the house.
Do I make sense? I got myself a bit in a muddle here.

Should be able to handhold a camera at 100/s or less for most people. Even 500/s can be used for low light with good effect. As it low light then in theory, you could shoot midday towards the Sun at 2000/s or faster, to get the same effect.

Thanks all, you've convinced me, I'll get the new theme up tomorrow (unless I think of something better before then)
