I like the last photo best of the chap sitting there. Great candid.

Thanks Alan!

Photographically, I liked the Beagles best

Comment-with-a-pic, I found the irony of the Beagles pic best:
The show has come under controversy in the past but the Kennel Club has announced a number of stringent measures to ensure the Best in Breed finalists and winners are in good condition and health

Which really should be preceded by:
Having overseen and given tacit approval to breeding programs which have nearly destroyed some breeds and impoverished the genetic line of yet more breeds, the show, etc.

And proceeded by:
Despite this past controversy, we will continue to promote dog shows and breed clubs where breeding prioritises dogs' looks over the strengthening of those breeds
Whatever and ever. Amen

Not really my kind of dog show, I find the "Best of Breed" types to be hideous monstrosities.
But I was rather impressed with this.

Sue. As a fellow dog lover, I think you know the kind of breeders I'm refering to, also from the coments Iv'e posted on your pictures, not only of dogs, but also waterfowl, that you have a great understanding and love of the subject.
I posted a clip of a working dog that I thought was quite wonderful.
Of course I know that it is a small minority of breeders, who's only aim (It appears to me.) is purity of breed at any cost, an atitude that I find quite distasteful.
Sue, you know my admittedly rash comments wer'nt aimed at you, or anyone else with a genuine and obvious love of dogs. It is the few nasty people and SOME breeds that I was reffering to, and in that I think we are in agreement.
We have had Boots for seventeen years now, and when the inevitable happens we'll be straight down to the rescue center.
Please don't remove your pictures, I find them quite inspirational.
I apologise for the offence I have caused, and of course to anyone else equally offended, I'm just the bloke on the street with all the failings that that entails.
                                As Ever  Graham.

Ive read your post another 3 times and I can not see anything in it which would warrant the need for an apology ??
Perhaps Sue will have a rethink when she calms down. Really hope so. I too love her shots and tales about the dogs etc

If you feel insulted then I apologise. If you feel uncomfortable then I'm not at all sure us dog owners shouldn't feel somewhat uncomfortable with some of the basic and fundamental genetic cross-breeding that's been allowed - and only very recently disallowed (and even then not all of it). My comments were purely aimed at the institutions that permitted such practices.

I've lived my whole life around dogs (mainly working dogs) but only recently took on ownership of a dog, a rescue, (as lifestyle made having any pets difficult, being out all day until late) which is when I looked into the whole issue of dog breeds, dog breed clubs, The Kennel Club and Crufts.

That Crufts statement says they take stringent measures to ensure the Best in Breed finalists and winners are in good condition and health. Well, what about ensuring all entries were checked for good condition and health?
Whatever and ever. Amen

Graham, you gave your opinion and you have every right to do so. You didn't single out anyone who may own that type of dog but just an honest opinion. I think Sue is wrong to take umbridge at your remarks.

Now time to make up.  :-*
