A broad user base and support whether it be from the manufacturers direct or from people such as your good selves has a lot to do with the decision. I've used a Nikon D70 for a few months and previously Canons. They're the only two manufacturers I'd considered, rightly or wrongly and on balance, Canon was the choice for me, based mostly on familiarity, and price.

Whether or not is was the right decision, time will tell. At this moment in time, its the right one for me.

I used my 350D and 17-40mm all weekend a few years ago in Barcelona when it rained for most of it. Still going strong, though in semi-retirement now.

But I would recommend a proper leather to wipe off any moisture - and that goes for any camera to be honest. This was recommended to me by a Motorsport Nikon User

I carry a towel in my bag for that purpose.

I've been in downpours with both my D3 and D200 without problems. I did have the D3 mist up inside on a very cold day, and the 70-200mm F2.8 VR lens has also misted up a couple of times, but the D200 never did.

Yeah, but they're both weather sealed cameras . . so they should work in the rain. But not in the bath  :2funny:
