I've been following the comments here, but couldn't really add anything sensible myself, which hadn't already been said. I went exactly the same way as Paul.

i bought a very nice d300 from one of our members here

         Of course that should read "I bought a D300 from one of our very nice members here."
        Anyway, your going to love the D700. Make sure that you hold on to the battery grip, it fits both cameras.
