Today sees the arrival of Cunards Queen Victoria into Liverpool for the first time so I have set myself the challenge of getting a shot of her from aboard a Ferry with the backdrop of the Liverpool skyline. This type of picture allways sells along with the steam trains if I can get it right. As I write the weather is not at its best for such a shot ( Gray sky & drizzle ) but I have checked the Met Office weather and it looks like there is window of opportunity around 6 to 7 pm.
I am aiming to catch the 6.15 pm ferry from the Pier Head which should take me straight past the ship on the wayout and return to Pier Head at 6.45 pm.
So thats the plan set    I will report back later........

Wouldn't re-lie on the Met Office forcasts. They said yesterday would be sunny after 11:00 but it remained cloudy all day.  >:(

Good luck and hope you get the shot.

Well Old Boy was right about the Met Office but at least it stayed dry. The few shots I got are not to great with the grey sky but at first look at the files I should be able to use a couple if croped to fit a suitable mount.... :legit:

Well, interesting shots Dave.
For me, personally, the last one is missing a bit off the bow - but the other 2 would be great if cropped as you say.
Were they mine i would also turn them into mono and colour pop the reds. I know you're not a fan of this sort of thing - but some times it can pay.
I've noticed such picture post cards starting to do the rounds darn sarf...

I had thought of doing B&W as my recently acquired printer is very good at producing them. I recently converted a few telephone box shots and was quite pleased with them once printed.
As for the third shot well I just could not fit it all in because of all the people and obstacles in the way which was another reason for going out on the ferry to get away from the masses.

I still prefer the QE 2 though.

You know the pointy bit is the bow? :legit:

It's all there in the pic I'm looking at. It's the roundy bit, at the back I can't see.

No doubt my dad the former RN Chief Petty Officer is rolling over in his grave right now.  ;)
And more, much more than this, I did it my way

I'm losing it - bow, stern, port, starboard - i'll stick to pointy bits and curved bits. Equally i'll stick to dry land!

Well this is the roundy bit at the back which looks very square to me. They don't build ships like they used to... ;D
