What was your first proper camera?

Agfa Isolette 2. Apotar 85mm Lens, f4.5 Max shutter 300. 120 Film. I purchased this in 1952 from a friendly pharmacy, who allowed me paying him weekly, credit facilities were very rare in those days.

My first proper camera was a Cosmorex 500 SE (which was a rebadged Zenit -- not sure which model).

It was big, heavy and clunky, but it was mine. I bought it after Christmas with money that I had saved from delivering newspapers.



I took it with me to many, many places as a young man. It replaced an old Spartus folding camera (127 film) and a Kodak Instamatic that my parents had given me.

I got this camera 2nd hand in about 1958, and soon afterwards had a photo I took with it published in the local paper. I've kept it ever since, and last year I put a roll of 120 film through it and all 8 exposures were quite reasonable. The viewfinders are a nightmare though....
