What does this term mean to you? Had a discussion with a female co-worker and discovered this term is envisioned in completely different ways. To mean it connotates suggestive images, to her it equates to the vilest pornography. And how we got to this discussion was by her, telling me, of another of our female co-workers who photographs kids & babies on the side. She also offers a service where she will photograph people ( I do believe the service is aimed at just women) in suggestive/seductive garb strictly for view by their respective spouses.  ;D I made the mistake of describing it as 'erotica' and got quite the earfull.  :'(
And more, much more than this, I did it my way

My understanding of erotica was the same as yours - using suggestion rather than all out nudity for example. Erotica being more subtle and artisitic than the often ludicrously funny 'glamour' shots. Pornography to me means sexuality in all it's forms rather than straightforward nudity - the only problem with nudity being that most people look better with just a bit [or in the case of some of us a lot!] of covering :D

In my case a burkha might be best! :2funny:

I'd have to say that Erotica would cover suggestive photography such as Dita Von Teese's book but does not go into blunt sexual photography....

I think the late Bob Carlos Clark summed it up succinctly...  " Erotica effects whats between your ears and pornography effects whats between your legs "  :legit:

I personally agree with the quoted Bob Carlos Clark definition - but i suspect some where in the cultural zone another interpretation might be in use.

Erotica is something I'd show the wife....porn isn't....unless for a laugh  :2funny:

Well, that's my definition.

There is a section on the canon forum, Photography on the net which has a section for what it calls Glamour - some of which could be classed as Erotica.

I sometimes show the wife some of the images, if I think it is of interest, one way or another.

Interestingly, they ban what is called "Porn" by essentially not allowing close ups of genatialla or the sexual act. However, the former is often pushed - some of the member get away with it some don't. It seems to depend on your standing on the board!

So, it depends on your member's standing! :2funny: :2funny:  :2funny:
