I think as the photograph is a documenting one by nature, that cloning should not ever be allowed!  More especially if being used to describe the horror of war!

A line has to be drawn somewhere and there is enough media manipulation with sensationalism that is often misleading.

No news photographer should alter his work, that's a golden rule that I've heard from one or two that have given talks that I've attended.

I bet, until he comes up with a stonker of an image that AP would hate any other agency getting their hands on. ::)

No - never in such circumstances. Not sure why he made it hard on himself even presenting this shot though - nothing that striking.
